Private Water

In addition to SW Montana’s larger, famous rivers there are also numerous smaller rivers in the area that are either completely private or public access is limited due to prohibitive distances from any publicly accessable point such that they are in essence by default private.

Some of the more famous truely private waters in the vicinity of Bozeman include the famous spring creeks of the Paradise Valley; Armstrong’s, Nelson’s and Depuy’s. These three bodies of water, located about 40 minutes from Bozeman, can be some of the most consistent options espcially during early and late season or when most of the larger rivers are high and muddy due to runoff. They are also are wonderful place to be during certain times of the season when hatches such as the sulphurs make their appearance.

In addition to these more famous and truely private water options we also have access to a large and growing list of privately accessed small waters within a fairly short drive of Bozeman. We have recently come to an agreement with another outfitter and friend which has greatly expanded the waters available to our clients. With the addition of this new water we now have limited access to over 86 miles of private water which we are excited to share with our guests. Even with this amount of water access is limited due to the need to provide enough rest between visits in order to maintain the quality of the fishery.

Some of these can be accessed on a day basis and others are best fished as a two of three day trip with lodging available in a couple locations within easy driving distance of these small gems.

All of these private water options come with additional rod fees over and above the normal guide fees. These fees range from $40 per person for off season rates up to $150 for some of our more exclusive offerings during peak season.
